It will also include music by Lawrence Whitehead and the late John Tavener
ANCIENT & MODERN 11TH MAY 2014
This concert was a special memorial concert for a dear friend and collegue organist and choir master Christopher Manners LRAM, who died suddenly on 18 December 2013. The concert featured Scarlatti's 'Exsurge Domine' and 'Ad Dominum', Costanzi's 'Christus factus est', William Harris' 'Almighty God and most merciful Father'. Robert Hugill's 'Ad te Levavi' and 'Rorate Coeli'. The concert also featured a world première of 'Do not stand beside my grave and weep', composed by Peter Leech in memory of Chris Manners. The concert was also the launch for Harmonia Sacra's exciting new CD, Princely Splendour, on Nimbus Alliance, featuring choral music from 18th-century Rome.
LATE NIGHT RUSSIAN SOUL - 8TH MAY 2014
This concert featured a complete performance of the repertory on our Nimbus CD Cherubim & Seraphim. It was presented at one weeks notice after a Russian choir pulled out of their scheduled performance. We are grateful to Catherine Freda and the St George's team for giving us this tremendous opportunity which was warmly received by an enthusiastic audience.
